In a KEA LinkedIn discussion late last year, NZ employers got a bit of a “bagging”; accused of being fearful of hiring expats, not understanding or valuing their experience. On the back of this discussion which attracted more than 120 comments posted largely by expats and returned Kiwis, we thought it would be an interesting to find out:

1. How many NZ employers had international experience,

2. Their propensity to hire expats and migrants, and

3 Get their advice for Expats and Migrants looking to return to NZ.

NZ : Less Expats Want to Return

There has been a decline in NZ expats wanting to return from 90% to 83% over the past 3 years.  That’s a concern and hopefully not the start of a trend.

To help people appreciate what our NZ expat community has to offer, Global Career Link has prepared an expat community profile from survey responses over the past couple of years. Hopefully it will make NZ businesses and employers aware of what they are missing and encourage them to make more of an effort to engage.
