United kingdom: Demand for highly-skilled contractors will remain strong over the coming year, it has been claimed.

Highly-skilled limited company contractors can expect strong demand for their services over the coming 12 months.
That is according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), which said that while the UK’s jobs market will vary from region to region in 2012, demand for workers in “high-end sectors” will be high.

Small businesses will be more likely to hire new staff in the first half of 2012 than any other, according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).
Making his predictions for the year ahead, Kevin Green, chief executive of the REC, suggested that while employers are cautious about permanent hiring, “a significant number will consider bringing in new staff over the coming year”.

Australia: Record number of New Zealanders migrating

The number of New Zealand citizens crossing the Tasman Sea to live in Australia has hit 1,000 a week, reports news.com.au.
For the first time ever, the number of New Zealanders heading to Australia exceeded 50,000 for a calendar year – and that came only at the end of November.

There was an increase in permanent placements in Scotland in November, but at the slowest rate in 14 months, according to the Bank of Scotland’s ’Report on Jobs’.
