New Zealand: September job losses follow August gains

Job numbers dipped 0.1 per cent in September, after a jump in August.
But the number of jobs in September this year was up 1.2 per cent on the same month last year, a rise of about 22,000, according to Statistics NZ figures.

United Kingdom: London tops the list for international jobseekers

London remains the most desirable city for worldwide jobseekers, despite the UK having the highest unemployment rate since 1996.
According to a survey of over 160,000 people commissioned by jobs website totaljobs.com, the top cities for jobseekers globally are: London, New York, Singapore, Paris and Sydney.

Asia: Smaller pay, lower bonuses expected next year

Lower salaries and smaller bonuses are to be expected next year, reported The Straits Times.
Economists and recruitment professionals that the paper talked to said this in reaction to the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s (MTI) announcement yesterday, when it issued a forecast for full-year economic growth next year of just 1 per cent to 3 per cent.
On a positive note, those they spoke to also said job losses may be ‘relatively limited’.

United Kingdom: Average earnings in UK rise 3.5 times less than current CPI

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has issued official figures that reveal the average pay increases for UK employees in April 2011 were more than 3.5 times the current rate of the consumer prices index (CPI) rate of inflation, which is five per cent.
